Mobile phone maker Motorola and wireless services provider Verizon Wireless are getting ready to deliver to the market yet another high-end Android-based device, reportedly dubbed Motorola DROID Xtreme. The handset popped up into the wild in a series of new photos, some of which show clearly that Verizon logo on its casing, and is said to be one of the Shadow / DROID 2 phones that was previously leaked, though the Shadow moniker is completely out of the equation.

The mobile phone is said to come to the shelves with Android 2.1 on board, though an update to Android 2.2 is not out of the equation either. Moreover, rumor has it that the MotoBlur user interface present on Motorola’s Android-based handsets has been replaced with a new solution, one that offers a more subtle UI customization, apparently called “Ninja Blur,” enabling users to hide it in case they do not like it.

“Ninja Blur is Blur running without the user knowing. For those who don’t like Blur,” a recent post on the Howard Forum, coming from a Shadow evangelist, reads. In other words, the solution will run in the background, though it should deliver some aesthetic differences when compared to the stock Android UI. However, specific details on the matter were not unveiled.

Other specs of the device would include a 1500mAh battery, along with an 8-megapixel photo snapper (the same as on the MILESTONE XT720 launched in Europe today), HD video recording capabilities, as well as dual LED flash to go along with the 8MP behemoth. One of the newly leaked images that emerged at Droid-Life shows the back of the device, with that Verizon logo all over it, while the other shows the phone's new UI.

The handset is expected to prove a nice option when launched on the market, being able to compete against new, high-end Android phones recently launched in the United States. However, nothing is certain on what it can offer until an official announcement is made, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
