The old Motorola DROID X is about to receive a consistent software update within the next few days. Verizon Wireless has just published the official changelog for software version 4.5.621, which brings lots of changes to the DROID X.

First of all, there's improved connectivity with 3G Mobile Hotspot data connectivity. The browser security has been improved as well with the Google Security Patch from Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread.

Lots of bugs have been fixed, such as the issue where the device may power on without user interaction, as well as the problem with the device possibly resetting while playing music.

It is also worth mentioning that once the update is applied Motorola DROID X owners will experience reduced “Out of Memory” errors. Two OTA (over the air) changes have been added as well.

One that prevents lockups and resets after the the OTA update, and another one that make the OTA update notice screen display the correct estimated update time.

Although Motorola DROID X was launched on the market about two years ago, it comes with an impressive 8-megapixel rear camera, which features autofocus, dual-LED flash and HD (720p) video recording.

With the latest update, adjusted camera settings will be saved, even after Motorola DROID X is powered down.

Software version 4.5.621 enhances the stability of Music Player, thus reducing resets, and improves the ability to access and receive Gmail when the Mobile Hotspot is turned on. More importantly, shortcuts to apps will remain on the device even after they have been moved to the memory card.

Motorola also addressed an error that replicated thumbnails in message threads, and reduced duplicate message errors.

Last but not least, the device now recognizes Multimedia ringtones after purchase, and is enable with the Wireless Alerting System. For the full changelog of the upcoming update head over to Verizon's support site.
