Good news for Verizon customers who own the DROID MAXX, DROID Ultra and DROID Mini, as the carrier has just started the rollout of a major update that will improve these smartphones' camera.

Additionally, several important changes related to other features of the smartphones have been included as well. Phandroid reports that the following improvements and new features will be added via this update:

- Google Drive is now preloaded with 50GB promotion; - Wireless charging UI has been enhanced for better connectivity; - 4G LTE performance has been improved to support faster connection; - Motorola Assist has been improved for better stability; - Google Voice now returns cards with audible feedback when location setting is enabled; - The latest version of NFL Mobile has been added; - Viewdini has been removed as a preloaded application; - Device now charges when connected to Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation.

Concerning the DROID MAXX, DROID Ultra and DROID Mini cameras, the following improvements have been included:

- Sky Detection has been improved to lighten dynamic scenes; - High Dynamic Range (HDR) has been tuned to trigger more frequently; - Viewfinder has been improved for more consistent exposure; - Automatic White Balance (AWB) has been improved for overall color enhancements.

The update software version 12.15.15.en.US is now pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might not be available for all DROID owners.

In order to manually check for availability, head over to Settings / About phone / Software update / Update. If it doesn't show up on the screen, you might want to check back later.

Keep in mind that all three Motorola smartphones receiving this major update have been confirmed for Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.

However, we're still waiting for the US-based handset maker to announce the timeframes for the upgrades, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
