Motorola Defy Plus, the successor of the popular Motorola Defy is now available for pre-order in the UK for a suggested retail price of £246.

The smartphone is expected to become available in late September via online retailer Clove UK, but price and release date have yet to be confirmed by Motorola.

Android fans who already own the standard DEFY model might be tempted to upgrade to the Plus version given its updated operating system and improved processor.

Motorola DEFY Plus is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, whereas the original DEFY is still stuck on Android 2.2 Froyo.

In addition, the Plus variant is equipped with a superior 1 GHz processor manufactured by Texas Instruments, while the DEFY embeds only an 800MHz CPU.

The phone's price will probably drop considerably as soon as the phone will be released on the market, but it could also be available for free in case one of the major carriers picks it.

Both DEFY and DEFY Plus feature Motorola's proprietary MOTOBLUR users interface with Live Widgets on top of Android, and they're both IP67 certified for dustproof and water-resistant.

Motorola DEFY Plus has a 3.7-inch capacitive multi-touch display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and support for 16 million colors, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

The smartphone packs 2 GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM, 1 GB of ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

It is also worth mentioning that the DEFY Plus has the same size and weight as the original DEFY, but offers users longer autonomy thanks to a higher capacity battery of 1700mAh.

In this regard, the phone's battery should provide up to 384 hours of standby time or up to 7 hours of talk time.
