Motorola DEFY+ is not among the new Android smartphones launched in India, on the contrary. The handset was introduced in the country back in November for a suggested retail prices of Rs 18,000 (370 USD or 280 EUR).

However, the folks over at AndroidOS have just learned that the Motorola DEFY+ has just been discounted at major Indian retailers. Starting this week, customers can purchase the DEFY+ for only Rs 15,990 ($330 or 250 EUR) via Flipkart or Letsbuy regional retailers.

Flipkart also throws in a free universal pouch and a multipin car charger worth Rs 450 (9 USD or 7 EUR), while Letsbuy offers a free Jabra BT 2045 Bluetooth headset with each Motorola DEFY+ purchase.

Initially announced back in August, Motorola DEFY+ hit shelves one month later. The rugged smartphone is the rightful successor of the original Motorola DEFY, which was released on the market more than one year ago.

Motorola DEFY+ comes with the same bar form factor, but embeds slightly better processor and battery, as well as a newer mobile platform.

The DEFY+ is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, whereas the original DEFY was delivered with Android 2.1 Éclair at launch, and received a Froyo upgrade much later.

Furthermore, the DEFY+ is equipped with a single core TI OMAP 3620 processor clocked at 1 GHz, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX530 graphics processing unit.

In addition, the phone packs 2GB of onboard memory, 512MB of RAM, 1 GB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

The smartphone is IP67 certified for dust and water resistance, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating. It comes with a decent 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

There’s also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, along with HSDPA and HSUPA.
