Two weeks after Motorola introduced the DEFY MINI in Germany, the handset maker announces the upcoming availability of the smartphone in Italy.

According to Motorola, the DEFY MINI will be available for Italian customers starting March, for an affordable price that “won’t break the bank.”

Although most of its features put it in the low-end category of Android smartphones, Motorola DEFY MINI still has some aces up its sleeve.

First of all, this an affordable handset aimed at outdoor enthusiasts. This means it’s water-resistant and dustproof, and comes with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Motorola DEFY MINI sports a decent 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 262k colors.

Another selling point of the phone would be the high-capacity 1650 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated for up to 500 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time.

Obviously, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread platform, and is Google certified, which means it will provide users with access to more than 400,000 apps via Android Market.

It also runs MotoSwitch UI, which automatically puts the most used apps in front and center for quick and easier access.

There’s also a 3-megapixel rear photo snapper with LED flash, as well as secondary VGA front-facing for video-calls.

In the connectivity front, Motorola DEFY MINI offers HSDPA and HSUPA support, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. In addition, smartphone packs 512 MB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Motorola DEFY MINI is just the right mix of style, value, performance and toughness. It can stand up to whatever your busy life throws at you, keep you connected and organized, and capture and share your once-in-a-lifetime adventures – all with resilience and style,” said Paolo Prearo, general manager in Motorola Mobility Italy.
