Motorola officially introduced the MOTOLUXE affordable Android smartphone in the UK last week. It was just a matter of time before the handset maker announced the upcoming availability of the Motorola DEFY MINI as well.

According to Motorola, the DEFY MINI will be available in the UK starting late-March. No word on the phone’s price tag, but the company stated that customers would be able to pick it up from all leading retailers across the country.

The smallest device in the DEFY series, Motorola DEFY MINI is the perfect choice for outdoor enthusiasts who prefer Android devices. Besides its sturdiness, the smartphone doesn’t offer anything new in comparison with other entry-level Android-based phones.

DEFY MINI is the cheapest device in the DEFY series, so expect this one to be packed with the lowest features as well. Even though the phone is powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread platform, the rest of the specs sheet is far from being attractive to customers.

The smartphone is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz processor and packs 512MB of ROM, 512MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion.

In addition, it sports a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display (320 x 480 pixels resolution), a 3-megapixel rear photo snapper and a secondary VGA front-facing camera.

To celebrate DEFY MINI coming to the UK, the handset maker has launched a campaign called “Winter Proof,” which includes sponsorship of Snowbombing, in Mayrhofen, Austria (April 9-14).

In addition, Motorola and Snowbombing have teamed up to offer Motorola fans an exclusive UK event in March. Dubbed the Urban Mountain Disco, the event will be hosted by Radio 1’s Mista Jam and will see Maverick Sabre take to the stage.

“Motorola DEFY MINI is just the right mix of style, value, performance and toughness and our sponsorship of Snowbombing presents a great opportunity to showcase this to our UK audience,” said Victoria McManus, UK marketing director, Motorola Mobility.
