Unveiled a few days ago, Motorola Moto G is already available for pre-order in various European countries and has been confirmed to arrive in the United States and India in January, 2014.

According to Motorola, the Moto G will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, the handset maker guaranteed the smartphone will receive the KitKat upgrade in late January, next year.

However, it appears that only Moto G owners who purchase the device this year will be eligible for the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.

The reason is obvious, the Moto G that launches in late January in the United States, South East Asia and other countries will be delivered with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box.

The information has been recently confirmed by Mark Randal, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations for Motorola, who told Omio the Moto G will be launched in two waves.

“Here is the way to think about it: we have different waves of releases. UK, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, France: are in what we call Wave 1. And wave 1 will release with 4.3 Android Jelly Bean, and by the end of January, all those people will get onto 4.4”

“Wave 2, products that we ship after Christmas, will start with KitKat. So if you think about it, everyone by the end of January will have KitKat. Wave 2 is in the US; there’s South East Asia, and other countries. Overall, the device will be in more than 30 countries, with 60 carrier or channel partners.”

We reported yesterday Verizon will launch the Moto G in January as well and we suspected the smartphone might arrive with Android 4.4 KitKat onboard. It looks like we were right and Motorola will bring US customers the latest KitKat user experience right out of the box.
