Only those people still using the device are accepted

Two years ago, handset vendor Motorola announced together with mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless

the release of the first of a series of highly popular Android-based devices, namely the Motorola DROID, and it seems that the company is preparing something special for those who own one of these phones.

Those DROID owners who are members of the Motorola Feedback Network have been receiving emails informing them on the said new project that Motorola has in store for them.

Unfortunately, no specific info on what the said project is all about emerged for the time being, though the guys over at Droid-life managed to grab one of the said emails and published it online.

One thing that should be noted right from the start is that the project is meant to involve only people who are still using the Motorola DROID, and who are also members of the Motorola Feedback Network.

Here's what the aforementioned email says:

Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are preparing a project for owners of the original Motorola Droid on Verizon, and would like to invite you to participate.

Click this link to take a short enrollment survey for this project. Please note that you must be a member of the Motorola Owners’ Forums to take part.

If you are no longer using your original Droid and wish to update your Motorola Feedback Network profile so you can be part of projects for a different Motorola phone, please click here.

If you use the same computer as previous registrations, you can update your profile. If you do not, simply re-register with your current Motorola product. To opt out of the MFN see the link at the bottom of this email.

In the message, Motorola also informs users that the project is confidential under the terms of the Motorola Feedback Network, and that those who participate should not provide specific info on it to third-parties.

Whether it comes to delivering a new software update for the mobile phone or the release of a successor that will prove as appealing and as popular as the Motorola DROID, we're left in the dark for the time being.

Hopefully, more info on the matter will emerge in the near future, so keep an eye on this space for additional details.
