When it rains, it pours, and when it comes to the form factors that Motorola's Android-based devices are set to sport, a new item should be added to the list. Along with candybar devices, side-sliders, reverse flipping devices and more, Motorola is reportedly readying a new square handset that would run under Google's mobile operating system, but one with a sliding design, the Motorola Chindi.

At a first look, the said device seems almost the same as the Motorola FLIPOUT, which was already released into the wild, but the reports on this device suggest that we're actually looking at another Motorola Android phone.

While boasting the same square shape as the FLIPOUT, the new handset, supposedly called Chindi, should be a sliding device, and not a flipper, as the already available handset is.

According to a recent article on Gizmodo, we should expect the new device to arrive on the market on AT&T's airwaves, although there are no details available on when that might happen, nor on the exact name the device would sport, since Chindi is only a codename, it seems.

Among the known features of the upcoming mobile phone from Motorola, we can count a QWERTY keyboard, along with a touchscreen display, and Google's Android 2.1 operating system to power the device.

Moreover, it seems that the new device should pack a 3.1-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and that it would be aimed at those mobile phone users who are also fond of texting. The orange back plate visible in the photo to the left would be included in the mix too.

All in all, it seems that Motorola is indeed determined to show that Android can fit in devices of about any shape or form factor, though it still remains to be seen whether the device would actually make it on shelves, as well as when that should happen.
