Motorola has officially confirmed that its CITRUS handset will be available from Verizon Wireless starting tomorrow, November 11th. The affordable smartphone will be available for as low as $49.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year contract.

Rumored a while ago, along with Samsung Continuum and Samsung Zeal, Motorola CITRUS was slated for a November 11th release, but it wasn't officially confirmed until now. The other two handsets have already been confirmed during this week.

Motorola CITRUS is an affordable smartphone powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7625 528 MHz processor and running Android 2.1 OS.

The only thing that could be considered as a downside by some users is the fact that its full HTML Web browser comes preloaded with Bing Search and Bing Maps.

Users that rely heavily on the smartphone messaging capabilities will not be disappointed as the device offers an easy-to-use on-screen QWERTY keyboard or the handy Swype keyboard.

The phone also packs social networking services integration (Facebook), as well as Google service such as Gmail, Google Talk and YouTube.

Eco-oriented users will be happy to find that the CITRUS phone housing is made from 25 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, is CarbonFree certified through an alliance with Carbonfund.org, and is PVC and BFR free.

Furthermore, the packaging is made from 80 percent post-consumer recycled paper and the user manual is made using 100 percent recycled paper and soy-based ink.

Verizon Wireless customers who purchase Motorola CITRUS will receive the mail-in rebate in the form of a debit card. Upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted.

Motorola CITRUS customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide plan (beginning at $39.99 monthly access) and a Data Package (beginning at $15 monthly access for 150 MB).
