The phone makes use of Sprint PCS Vision service

Motorola and Sprint have released a new phone aimed at the low-budget sector. The C290 is the first handset from Motorola to take advantage of Sprint's PCS Vision service, allowing users to download mobile content directly from the mobile.

The Motorola C290 has a compact design and measures 1.91 x 3.43 x 0.93 inches, weighing 3.5 ounces. The 1.1 x 1.38 inches LCD screen can display up to 65k colors. Surfing over the Internet is made possible using a simple WAP 2.0 browser.

The productivity features of the phone include voice memos, predictive text, calendar, scheduler, alarm, speakerphone. Communication via text messages and e-mail is also possible. The Sprint PCS Vision makes the customization of the phone easy, the user being able to download ringtones, screensavers, images, games to replace the already existing ones.

The LiIon battery provides 3 hours of continuous talk time.

The Motorola C290 operates in CDMA 1X 800/1900/800A networks and is available to Sprint customers for a price of $179.99 or $29.99 after rebate.
