Unveiled last year in April, Motorola ATRIX has just been officially introduced in Turkey. Although the smartphone is not yet available for purchase, Motorola confirmed that the ATRIX was expected to hit shelves during the ongoing month.

The smartphone will go on sale through Turkcell channels by 24-month installments of TRY 56, including 250 MB data package.

Even though it’s a rather old device, Motorola ATRIX is still a solid choice for Android enthusiasts, especially given its hardware configuration.

Initially launched with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, Motorola ATRIX is now delivered with Gingerbread.

There’s no telling whether or not Motorola plans to upgrade the smartphone’s software even further, but Ice Cream Sandwich would run perfectly on this device.

Aside from the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, the ATRIX comes pre-loaded with MOTOBLUR user interface with Live Widgets on top. The phone provides quick access to more than 300,000 apps via Android Market.

Hardware-wise, Motorola ATRIX features a decent 4.0-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen with support for 540 x 960 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass.

The device packs a 1 GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, a ULP GeForce graphics processing unit, 16GB onboard memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On the back, Motorola ATRIX features a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording capabilities, while in the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for self-portraits and video calls.

Smartphones are increasingly being used as the primary digital screen. Motorola ATRIX ushers in a new era of mobile computing by combing the powerful mobile handset with the interactive webtop application and exclusive docks, to enable consumers to extend the capabilities of their smartphones to a PC-like experience,” said Malgorzata Matusiewicz, head of marketing Central Europe, Mobile Devices, Motorola Mobility.
