More Moto X users out there can now enjoy the features and capabilities that the Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system has to offer, as the platform release has just started to arrive on the handset at Sprint.

The wireless carrier has already posted info on the matter on its community forums, announcing that users will see the new update arriving on their handsets as software version KXA21.12-L1.22.

The new platform iteration is set to arrive on Moto X handsets over the air, and users will receive a notification as soon as it has arrived on their devices.

However, the update will be deployed in phases, which means that some users might have to wait for a few days before it reaches them.

They can also manually check on the availability of this release by going to Settings > About phone > software update and hitting the Check now button.

“Updates are released in stages. When checking for the update, you may receive a message that no update is available, check back later or wait until the update notification is sent to your device,” Sprint explains.

The update is small, yet users should make sure that the battery inside their phones is charged at least at 50 percent before kicking off the update process (thus having enough juice for the installation operation).

“Android 4.4.3, KitKat, is the latest release of the Android platform. This release includes several stability, framework and security fixes in addition to accuracy improvements to the power profile,” Sprint explains on the aforementioned post.

In addition to these changes, the new software update will also provide users with a series of camera improvements, which should result in a better image quality.

According to Sprint, enhancements in this area include improved consistency of exposure, along with more realistic flash coloring, and better photos in low-light conditions using front camera.

On top of that, following the update, users will see that the camera app now offers support for pausing the video recording. For that, the software will display a pause/resume button on the viewfinder.

The phone dialer app too has received some fine touches in the new platform release, now featuring a new graphical layout, along with colors that deliver better consistency and usability.

Those of you interested in learning more on the new update should head over to the aforementioned post on the Sprint Community forum. Details on how to update the Moto X to newer platform iterations can be found Sprint’s support website.
