Today, Motorola has officially announced the upcoming availability of its Moto X smartphone on the market in the UK, confirming that it will arrive in stores on February 1.

The handset was expected to become official in Europe, and it seems that users in the UK will be the first to receive it.

Motorola has confirmed to pocket-lint that the mobile phone will be launched in this market with the same specs and capabilities that it features in the United States.

This means that it will come with a 4.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, as well as with a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU inside.

Moreover, the handset packs 2GB of RAM inside and will be launched with 16GB / 32GB options of internal memory.

Moto X also sports a 10-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, as well as a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front for making video calls while on the go.

The mobile phone will hit shelves in the UK with support for 4G networks in the country, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0+ EDR connectivity, NFC capabilities, and a built-in GPS receiver.

Motorola will put Moto X on shelves with the Android 4.4 KitKat platform loaded on top. The company released the phone with Android 4.3, but it has pushed the newer OS version to it since November.

One thing that the device will lack at launch in the UK is the wide range of customizations that the MotoMaker portal provides users with.

However, it appears that the company does plan on bringing the service to this country as well, and that it might be able to make the move during the second quarter of the year.

Apparently, Motorola is still looking at ways to ensure that customized devices ordered through the portal are delivered to users in a four-day window.

Moto X will be released in the UK with a price tag of £380 ($622/€456) attached to it, but users will also be able to get it for free with the signing of a contract agreement on plans starting at £25 ($41/€30) a month.

Retailers such as Phones 4u, Carphone Warehouse, O2, Amazon, and Techdata will add the Black version of Moto X to their offerings. The white flavor of the smartphone will be available exclusively via Phones 4u for three months.
