Mobile phone maker Motorola is expanding the availability of its Moto G budget smartphone to more markets out there, and Australia is the latest of them to have received it.

The handset can now be seen on the company’s official website in the country, and it has also started to emerge at various online retailers there.

Users interested in the purchase of this device can grab it for as low as $243AUD ($214USD/€158) via jbhifi, while having to pay $247AUD ($218USD/€161) for it if they head over to The Good Guys, as Ausdroid notes. At Telechoice, the phone is priced at $279AUD ($246USD/€182).

For those out of the loop, we should note that the smartphone was launched with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, as well as with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside.

Moreover, the mobile phone sports 1GB of RAM, along with 8GB / 16GB of internal memory options, and two years of 50 GB storage for free on Google Drive.

On the back, the new device has a 5-megapixel camera with support for HD video recording, complemented by a 1.3MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Moto G comes with support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps as well as CDMA/EVDO Rev A networks, and also features dual-SIM capabilities, with Quad-Band 3G support.

The specs list of this handset also includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities, along with a built-in GPS receiver with GLONASS, and a 2070 mAh lithium-ion battery.

The smartphone measures 129.9×65.9 mmx6.0-11.6 mm (curved) and weighs 143 grams. Motorola launched it with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, but it will upgrade it to Android 4.4 KitKat soon (the update has already started to arrive in some countries).

For the time being, users in Australia will only be able to grab the 8GB version of the mobile phone at the aforementioned price tags, though the 16GB model might arrive there in the near future as well. Stay tuned for more on this.
