Starting today, mobile phone users in Canada interested in the purchase of the new Moto G smartphone from Motorola can do so, as the phone is available through wireless carriers TELUS and Koodo Mobile now.

The handset features a highly appealing price tag, as it has been launched at $200 (€140) outright, while being available for free with the signing of two-year contract agreements.

Moto G was made official last week, when it started to arrive on shelves in Brazil and various European countries, but it was not launched in North America until today, as MobileSyrup notes.

At the moment, those who would like to buy the phone will be able to see it listed on this page at TELUS, or via this link on Koodo Mobile’s website.

Moto G comes with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.

The mobile phone also features 1GB of RAM inside, along with 8GB of internal memory, and no MicroSD memory card slot (though 50GB of free Google Drive storage for two years is also available for its users).

On the back, Moto G features a 5-megapixel camera, with support for HD video recording, complemented by a 1.3MP front camera for making video calls.

The specifications list of this device also includes a 2070 mAh battery, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors. No LTE capabilities have been included in the package, it seems.

At launch, Moto G will run under Google’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, being capable of offering an almost stock experience to its users.

Starting with January next year, however, it will be updated to the newer Android 4.4 KitKat platform release (also with a small number of customizations on top), Motorola officially announced during the phone’s launch event.
