MotionDSP has announced via a press release that its development efforts related to a video reconstruction software have received the financial support of Alger Associates, Inc., the parent company of Fred Alger Management, Inc. and additional partners. MotionDSP failed to reveal the financial details of the angel funding as it prepares its software for an estimated 847 million camera phones market by 2009.

"We're very excited about the convergence of Internet video and television. Our technology is well-suited to enable user-generated video content to reach the broadcast quality television viewers demand," explained Sean Varah, CEO of MotionDSP.

Having licensed the image processing technology developed by the University of California, MotionDSP has revealed that it develops a public version of the video reconstruction software designed to reconstruct high-resolution video from low-resolution content. "This technology takes low resolution video, extracts information from each frame, and re-constructs a higher resolution video, enabling faces to be recognized and license plates to be read. MotionDSP's technology has been proven in security applications, and now, MotionDSP is focused on consumer applications, such as enabling video captured by a mobile phone to achieve TV-quality," explained MotionDSP.
