Motion Computing has just announced that its innovative F5v Windows 7 powered slate is now available with Intel Core i3 processors which should offer about the same level of performance as their older Core i7 and Core i5 vPro siblings for a much lower price.

Released at the end of last year, the F5v tablet PC was specially designed to be used on the road and in all sort of demanding environments and features a rugged design, that includes an AFFS+ Gorilla Glass display, as well as a hot swappable battery pack.

Apart from the Intel CPU, the tablet packs 2GB RAM of RAM memory (upgradeable to 4GB), a 160GB SATA hard disk drive, which can also be swapped for a 128GB SSD, and a Cisco CCX compatible Intel WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless chip.

The F5v can also be upgraded to feature a wide assortment of optionals, including a 1D/2D barcode scanner, 13.56MHz RFID reader, a 3.0 Megapixel camera, a front facing webcam or a smart card reader.

“Motion is committed to offering our customers a broad range of price and performance options to help them maximise field productivity with the solution that best meets their needs,” said Nigel Owens, Motion Computing vice president of worldwide sales and GM of EMEA, Motion.

“The addition of a new processor option is reflective of that commitment and we’ll continue to focus on the latest technologies that help us offer flexibility for our diverse customer base,” concluded the company's rep.

In addition to the new Core i3 CPUs, the F5V is also now available with a 30GB solid state drive (SSD) option, further lowering the starting price of the tablet PC.

Speaking of which, the cheapest F3v version is available at £1,300 through an international network of value-added resellers and distributions. (via KitGuru)
