30-year-old Karla Jones died on July 23 in her home in Tredegar, South Wales. Police arrived at the scene at 8.17 PM, but didn't confirm the death to Karla's grieving mother until 11.38 PM.

That was enough time for people to start posting the tragic event on Facebook. Her mother, 49-year-old Cheryl Jones, was browsing the social networking website when she came across the post: “She's died. RIP Karla.”

According to the Daily Mail, the woman rang her daughter's phone immediately and a police officer responded, telling her that officers needs more time to figure out what had happened.

“Sorry but an officer will be around to see you shortly,” the police in Tredegar told Cheryl.

Her daughter's death was officially announced to her one hour later.

Cheryl has filed a complaint with the professional standards department of Gwent Police.

She is outraged by the fact that she wasn't called by the officers immediately after they arrived at the scene, and she had to find out online. Karla was renting an apartment less than a mile away from her mother's house.

“I was Karla’s mother, her next of kin, the police should have come to see me straight away. […] But I only lived down the road and I didn’t know my own daughter was dead. […] When I rang her mobile the police said they would be around to see me straight away,” Cheryl said. It took 3 hours for the police to give her the news.

Cheryl had talked to her daughter that same day, a few hours before she turned out dead.

“I was hysterical. I had only talked to her hours before about her dog Scooby. […] She said she loved me before she put the phone down - she always did,” Cheryl says.

The police haven't released the results of the autopsy yet, and her mother still does not know what or who killed her. Toxicology tests are being carried out, and her medical history is being checked out. In her youth, Karla had suffered from heart problems.

Karla had been a model until she became pregnant at 19. She is survived by her daughter, Tyla, who “can’t believe she will never see her mum again.”
