Mortal Kombat X is part of a series that has long sought to surprise gamers with the content offered, and it seems that for the coming new installment the development team at NetherRealms is aiming to make the Predator playable in the first major downloadable content drop for the game, which is set to be released on all platforms in June of this year.

A source is telling Videogamer that the Predator will be fully rendered based on his looks in all the movies in which he appeared and will be able to use his classic array of science fiction weapons in order to take out all the other fighters.

At the same time, Mortal Kombat X players will get access to a character based on Colonel Al Dillon, the CIA agent who hunts the creature and dies in the attempt, with Carl Weathers, the actor who played him, apparently working with the studio to make sure that the fighter looks like he did in his prime.

It's unclear whether there are plans to include some kind of story centered around the two characters in the coming DLC or if the developers intend to deliver the actual Alien in any future content drop.

Until now, the development team at NetherRealms and publisher Warner Bros. have not offered any clear information on their plans to expand the universe of Mortal Kombat X.

But the recent rumor is more believable for fans who remember that Ed Boon, who leads development of the series, used both game imagery and a picture of the Predator in a post on Twitter last year.

Mortal Kombat X has had guest fighters before

The Predator would be a great addition to the roster of combatants in Mortal Kombat X, but the series has a history of using them, with gamers able to use Kratos from God of War and Freddie Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street previously.

Warner Bros. has not offered any comment on the rumor, but if the info is true, it might rush to make an official announcement in the coming days.

Mortal Kombat X is set to arrive on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the PC and last-gen consoles on April 14, with a range of new characters and combat mechanics.
