Musician Steven Patrick Morrissey is now accusing department store Fortnum & Mason of being “proud to be brutish.”

The musician has recently joined PETA's fight against the foie gras industry. To prove his commitment to this cause, he's given the organization £10,000 (€11,621 / $14,895), Look to the Stars reports.

The money will serve to fund a new anti-animal cruelty campaign. More precisely, PETA plans to use the £10,000 to buy space for the ad in the picture below.

“Fortnum & Mason: Proud to Be Brutish,” the ad reads. “Foie gras illegal to produce in Britain but sold at Fortnum & Mason,” it goes on to say.

PETA hopes that, once the ad is in place, people in the UK will learn all about how Fortnum & Mason values profits more than it does animal welfare, and quit buying products from them.

“With this generous gift, Morrissey is literally putting his money where his mouth is and combating cruelty to animals,” Mimi Bekhechi comments on the musician's donation.
