Kickstarter has been the promised land for many game developers and although lots of projects have been submitted in the last couple of years on the crowdfunding website, not all were successful.

However, more than 100 games have been successfully funded on Kickstarter, many of them becoming very popular among PC gamers. Some of you are probably aware that one of the best RPGs in 2014, Divinity: Original Sin, had a successful campaign on Kickstarter which helped developer Larian Studios to add a lot more content into the game.

Lords of Xulima is another great RPG which had the bad luck of being released less than two months after Divinity: Original Sin, thus living in its shadow.

About one and a half year after successfully raising about $3M on Kickstarter, the folks at inXile released Wasteland 2 on Steam Early Access. In the meantime, the game was fully released to backers and proved very popular on Steam as well.

Many of these games had to go through Greenlight to be released on Steam

There are so many games that started on Kickstarter and then made it to Steam. Even though not all have been successful, it proves that in the right hands crowdfunding is a powerful tool that can be used to create products that entertain people.

Some of these more than 100 titles crowdfunded through Kickstarter are little gems waiting to be discovered in Steam’s huge catalog of games. A large part of these games also had to go through Greenlight system, but they all should now be available for purchase.

In case you see titles like Blade Symphony, Full Bore, Monochroma, Among the Sleep, The Fall, The Stomping Land, Xenonauts, Spintires, Whispering Willows, Sunless Sea, DieselStormers, The Escapists, Unrest, stay a while and read their description and maybe you’ll be tempted to buy them.

Kickstarter has a huge list of games that were funded and are now available on Steam, so you may want to check them out and see that you find something on your liking.
