14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Xperia Z2, the latest Android-based flagship handset from the Japanese mobile phone maker, will arrive on the market with a nice range of new applications loaded on top, and some of them have already leaked online and are available for download on other devices out there.
Among these, we can count the smartphone’s Android 4.4 KitKat-based launcher, along with the Camera app, Notes, Sketch, and Media Sounds.
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat launcher from Xperia Z2 is available for download as Home 6.1.2.A.0.1, and it can already be found on the XDA-Developers Forum.
According to a recent post on XperiaGuide, the launcher has already been loaded on the Android 4.3-based Xperia Z1 and is confirmed to be working on it like a charm.
However, it appears that users will need to have their smartphones rooted in order to be able to download and install the app. They will also need to delete the existing Home.apk in system/app and install the new one before proceeding with the installation.
As mentioned above, the Xperia Z2 Notes 1.0.4.A.1 and Sketch 1.0.A.4.2 applications have also been extracted from the new device and are now available for older Xperia devices, and perhaps for other phones as well.
In fact, a thread on the XDA-Developers Forum notes that other applications have also been ported to more Xperia handsets out there, including Clock, Calendar, Email, and Messaging.
In order to install these apps, users will need to grab the SomcNotes.apk and SomcSketch.apk files, place them in system/app, and then set the right permissions for them. A reboot is also required when these steps have been completed.
However, it appears that some Xperia users might even be able to install it on Android 4.1 handsets. The app will provide users with some new effects, background defocus, AR effects mode, and other new features as well, as TehcnosAmigos notes.
Those who would like to personalize their Xperia devices with some of the media files present on Xperia Z2 can now download the Camera Click Sounds and Media Sounds that have been extracted from the device.
Apparently, these will work on all Xperia smartphones running under Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher, including Xperia Z1, Xperia Z, Z Ultra, ZL , ZR, SP, T, TX, V ,S, SL, Acro S, J, P, C, L, and M. Just head over to this thread on the XDA-Developers Forum to learn more on the matter.
