Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is rumored to plan the release of a nice series of devices in the near future, one of which would be the already leaked Nokia C6-01.

Currently, Nokia has another C6 device on the market, the Nokia C6-00, which runs under the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system, but it seems that the new handset should offer a nice boost in this direction, as it is powered by the Symbina^3 OS flavor.

Moreover, the unannounced mobile phone is expected to come to the market with a series of other enhancements too, including an 8-megapixel photo snapper, a nice improvement over the 5-megapixel camera on the existing model.

However, it seems that other changes have been also included into the equation, and that the new Nokia C6-01 should land as a quite different device from the Nokia C6-00 we already know.

One of these modifications would be the removal of the sliding QWERTY keyboard, turning the upcoming handset into a candybar touchscreen phone.

Unfortunately, no additional details on the specs of this phone emerged for the time being, and there's no telling whether Nokia made other changes as well.

However, it might not be too long before we'll be able to learn all about this new Nokia device, since rumor has it that it could go official in mid-September.

To be more precise, there are great chances that Nokia would plan announcing the phone at the Nokia World 2010 event, which is set to kick off in London on September 14th.

Until that happens, all we have on the Nokia C6-01 includes the leaked details and two photos that emerged over at Mobile Geek Inc (via Engadget).

As stated above, this is not the first time we have the chance to take a look at the C6-01 candybar, since it appeared on Nokia's Dutch online storefront a while ago, though some of the aforementioned specs on it emerged only now.

All in all, the Nokia C6-01 should be launched on the market as a mid-level device, but it still remains to be seen at what price tag, as well as which markets would get it, and when.
