Changes made to the comments system

A few weeks ago, the online video sharing service YouTube introduced a Digg-like comment system, allowing the users to rate or mark as spam certain comments posted to the videos. Today, the folks working for YouTube modified the comment technology again with several updates. First of all, the messages posted on the videos are now displayed in chronological order (from oldest to newest) just like the old version of the service. Moreover, the email notifications sent to you every time a new comment was posted on a video uploaded by you now redirect you to the 'View All Comments' page and not straight to the new message.

According to the YouTube team, the video sharing platform is currently preparing one more useful update that will allow the uploaders to turn the comments rating system on or off for their own videos published on the page.

"Remember: you can choose which comments you want displayed, based on their overall ratings, on all video Watch pages. You can always choose to show all comments regardless of their ratings. Just use the pulldown menu near the comments section on the Watch page," the YouTube team mentioned in a blog post published today.

YouTube is a video sharing platform acquired by the super giant Google in October 2006 when the Mountain View company paid no less than $1.65 million. Since then, the technology grew up a lot, becoming one of the most popular services on the Internet with millions of users every day.

For example, Alexa places Google's video sharing service on the fourth place of the most popular websites after Yahoo, MSN and its parent company Google. But YouTube continues to grow as it is periodically updated with new and very attractive features, tending to become a real video encyclopedia with all sorts of clips.
