The HTC Iolite has come to the front once again, following the unexpected leak of the company's plans for this year. While some images with the phone have already surfaced during the past few weeks, yet not the best ones, this time we get both some specifications on the handset and a clearer photo.

Some voices over the Web would consider Iolite a Euro-only modernized version of the Touch Cruise, as it seems to sport a dedicated GPS-like button. At the same time, this seems to be a well-featured HTC-sourced Windows Mobile handset with more functionalities than just a GPS receiver. The device is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7225 processor running at 528MHz, and comes with 512MB of ROM and 288MB of RAM internal memory.

The phone is expected to hit the market running Windows Mobile 6.1 and sporting TouchFlo 3D, HSDPA/HSUPA with quad-band EDGE, along with support for WiFi and GPS. On the backside it features a 3.2-megapixel camera, while on the front it sports a 2.8-inch screen that can deliver a 240x320 pixel resolution. Also, from the image attached to this article, one can say that there would also be a dedicated key marked HTC Footprints, which could indicate a geo-tagging system for photos.

Other features include Bluetooth and 3G capabilities, as well as a MicroSD memory card slot. Iolite is stated to come with an 1100 mAh battery that could provide up to 400 minutes of talk time. The handset measures 102mm x 53.5mm x 14.5mm and weighs only 103 grams.

The specs of the HTC Iolite would look rather common to most of you, yet HTC enthusiasts are expected to find the device attractive enough. There are no price details at the time, nor an exact release date unveiled. It seems that the handset is meant for EURO regions at the moment, but we hope that a US version will come our way as well.
