It seems that T-Mobile is set to release more G series mobile phones during this year. As many of you know, the company's G2 handset has surfaced to the Web, showing us a little of the carrier's plans for 2009. While this handset comes as the follower of the already launched G1 smartphone, we should expect the G Series family to grow this year.

In a recent interview with Fierce Wireless, a company's representative slipped some information regarding such plans. “Our primary focus is consumer-based devices. As the year progresses there will be a significant number of HSPA-capable smart phones. We will be launching more G series phones and other products. You will see us launch a data card product. This will be happening in the coming weeks and months,” stated Neville Ray, Senior VP Engineering and Operations.

We've seen quite a few rumors regarding T-Mobile's plans concerning the G mobile phone, yet this would be the first time we receive more than speculations or unofficial info in the area. Undoubtedly, the carrier's users have a reason to rejoice given the fact that there will be more than one Android-powered phone coming their way this year.

Besides confirming in an almost official manner the launch of G2 in 2009, Neville also announced that T-Mobile plans to extend the reach of its 3G network in the following 11 months, another aspect that would bring joy to its subscribers.

“We are going to be more aggressive in 2009 than originally planned. In fact, we are looking to double our 3G reach in 2009,” he stated in the interview. “It's a great opportunity to ensure all forms of broadband access. The wireless operators have a unique and distinct opportunity to enable broadband access in the U.S,” Neville added.
