Changes in the tabbed menus surface

Microsoft already went public with some details on the touch capabilities that Windows Mobile 6.5, the future iteration of the company's mobile operating system, will come to the market with. As the company showed up the information, it became clear that the platform had been designed to work mainly with resistive touchscreens, though the support for capacitive ones hasn't been excluded from the equation.

According to the latest news on the Internet, the upcoming operating system flavor will indeed come to the market with more finger friendliness when compared to the previously available versions. To be more precise, a PPCGeeks forum member posted a series of screenshots that show some of the user interface changes that Windows Mobile 6.5 would come with.

Although there are no specific details on what has been changed there, it seems that the interface is more attractive than before. The obvious change that can be spotted there is the fact that, compared to an older build of the platform (WM6.5 ROM Build 21139.5.0.0), the new one (WM6.5 ROM Build 21925.5.0.60) does not feature the same tabbed structure, but a slider interface.

Basically, instead of having to 'click' on a tab to access a new part of the menu, users will have to swipe left or right to do so. Those who are already in love with touchscreen Windows Mobile-based handsets will definitely like this new feature in their devices, provided that the Redmond company indeed makes it available along with the almost-here platform.

Although the improvements are not too significant, they will certainly make users' lives more bearable, while also turning the OS into a more attractive and, at the same time, more competitive one. Hopefully, one of the upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 mobile phones will include these changes (which seem to be in beta at the moment), and we'll be able to learn more details on the matter soon.
