A few more details have appeared about Burnout Crash, a presumably new combat racing game that might appear from Electronic Arts and the creator of the Burnout franchise, Criterion Games.

After releasing last year's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, which rejuvenated EA's racing franchise, many people wondered what Criterion will work on next, with many believing that a new Burnout game is imminent.

A few weeks ago, the Australian video game ratings board released a classification for a game called Burnout Crash, which was set to appear on multiple platforms.

Now, the board has revealed to Joystiq a few details about the new title that was forwarded to it by Electronic Arts itself.

According to the description, Burnout Crash is an "action arcade style game set in the fictional world of Crash City. The aim of the game is to cause as much damage as possible to traffic and buildings by crashing a car into them."

Fans of the Burnout franchise will no doubt recognize this type of gameplay from the special Crash mode in earlier games, or Showtime, as it was called in the most recent Burnout Paradise title.

The idea behind the mode was to inflict as much damage as possible, and it seems to pretty much match the description made by the board.

Still, considering that it seems to center only around this mechanic, Burnout Crash may only be a smaller, downloadable title, and not a full pledged release in the Burnout franchise.

The last game in the prestigious racing series was Burnout Paradise, which captured the hearts of many gamers through its top-notch mechanics, loads of gameplay modes as well as the huge amount of free and paid downloadable content that was released for it by Criterion Games.

Before the release of NFS: Hot Pursuit, EA did confirm that the Burnout franchise is far from dead, and that we might see something in the near future.

Expect more details about Burnout Crash soon, probably around the E3 conference this summer.
