Nintendo really wants to make its 3DS handheld a platform that can appeal to all sorts of gamers, just like the previous DS, so the company is preparing to reveal some more casual experiences throughout the next year, especially at E3 2012 in summer.

Nintendo's 3DS hasn't exactly had the best of start, with a massive price cut and some serious games from the Japanese company managing to finally get people interested in the device.

Now, just as the games catalog for the 3DS is increasing, the president of its American branch, Reggie Fils-Aime, revealed that all sorts of titles will soon make their way onto the device in order to broaden its demographic.

"Our two big holiday titles for this year will certainly broaden the audience. Everyone loves Mario, [and] everyone loves to play Mario Kart," he said to Games.com. "As we look to next year, Mario & Sonic at the London Olympic Games is coming out on 3DS early next year--that's gonna' continue to broaden. But my expectation is that, come E3, I think we'll be showcasing a range of different titles that, for a more casual consumer, they'll see reasons to jump on board with the Nintendo 3DS."

Fils-Aime declined to actually go into details, but did highlight some consumers that might be targeted by future experiences, including older gamers or women.

"So, will there be content to appeal to consumers 50 plus the way Brain Age did? Absolutely. Will there be content that's going to appeal to women the way we are able to do with the DS? Absolutely. I can't go into the details of what exactly those titles will be, but stay tuned. There is information that we'll be sharing prior to E3, plus a lot of information at E3 as well."

Nintendo already confirmed that the final version of its Wii U will be brought to E3 2012 before its actual release around the world, so it's nice to hear that the 3DS is going getting its share of the spotlight.
