Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is reportedly getting ready for the launch of a BlackBerry smartphone that comes with a sliding form factor, and a series of new details on the device emerged into the wild recently, along with some new photos of the handset. This is not the first time we have the chance to take a look at the BlackBerry slider, but it is the first time when we learn that it might become available for purchase in the US via Sprint.

In addition to this piece of information, some other details on the BlackBerry slider also emerged, including the fact that it will come with a Bold 9000-like full QWERTY keyboard, which should be coupled with a virtual QWERTY when in landscape mode. The device is also expected to arrive on the market with an F-S1 battery inside, although previous rumors suggested it might pack a F-X1 battery. The camera on this handset is said to boast 5-megapixels, while also including liquid lens technology.

Some interesting details on the model number the BlackBerry slider will sport also emerged into the wild. According to the guys over at bbleaks, the phone might arrive with a 9700a moniker next to it, yet BGR disagrees. According to them, a trusted sources suggested that the device would come in two flavors, a GSM/HSPA and a CDMA version, and that they should be named BlackBerry 9930 and BlackBerry 9900.

Moreover, BGR also notes that the Sprint branded version of the mobile phone has been already spotted into the wild, and that the HSPA version will come with support for 850/1900MHz UMTS bands, which means that it might land both at AT&T in the US and at Rogers in Canada. However, it seems that the slider is currently under heavy testing, though it actually managed to fail 4 out of 5 times in early diagnostic testing. More details on the matter should emerge in the near future, so stay tuned to learn the news.
