Today, the creator of music playlisting and recommendation technologies Syntonetic announced the launch of its Moodagent solution for mobile phones powered by Google's Android operating system 1.5 or higher. The new software solution is meant to offer Android handset owners the possibility to rediscover music, while being able to experience it in an entirely new way.

Now available for a wide range of mobile phones, coming from leading handset vendors around the world, including SonyEricsson, Motorola, Samsung or HTC, the Moodagent for Android application is also meant to expand the company's product offering to new mobile platforms. The solution it launched on the iPhone and on Nokia devices (available for touchscreen and non-touchscreen phones as Playlist DJ) already registered a number of more than 2.5 million listeners worldwide.

According to the company, “Moodagent creates mood-based playlists using touchscreen sliders labeled Sensual, Tender, Happy, Angry and Tempo. Listeners create playlists by adjusting the sliders, or by “seeding” a song for an entire playlist of tracks with a similar mood. Unique to the Android version of the app is the new hide/show slider functionality, which allows the listener to toggle between the sliders and the playlist.”

At the same time, Syntonetic notes that Moodagent does not offer only the possibility to make great playlists. The mobile application was also created with the option to enable users to share their musical tastes with their “friends” and “followers” on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. Not to mention that users are able to set the number of songs included in their playlists to 10, 25 or 50 songs.

Other features of the Moodagent application include: - Refresh or create multiple playlists from a single slider setup. - Lock a track to ensure a particular song appears in each new playlist. - Exclude a track or artist from inclusion in playlists, for example holiday music. - Use the app in English, or localize by selecting Chinese (simplified), Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish.

Users interested in the new software solution would find it available for download as an ad-supported version from the Android Market. An ad-free variant should arrive soon for $5.00.
