MontaVista has big plans for the future, as it just purchased a Seoul-based company to increase its productivity. The company looks to meet the growing demand from Korean device manufacturers and software developers for their MontaVista embedded Linux software and services.

MontaVista Software Korea resulted from a joint venture between MontaVista and other investors, four years ago. The company currently works with leading handset producers, such as LG and Samsung in order to quickly produce innovative new electronic devices and embedded applications.

MontaVista Software now fully owns the former joint venture, which should give it more decision power and responsibility for all results. It will take care of sales, support, and consulting engineering services to electronic device designers. On the list of plans for the future, there stands the MontaVista Linux customization as well as bringing new devices and software platforms running on MontaVista Linux open-source operating system software.

"Now, with direct access to MontaVista's corporate resources, we are ready to address the growth in demand for MontaVista embedded Linux operating systems, development tools, and support services", said Young-Hoon Yoo, Korea Country Manager.

"We are impressed by the rapid growth in the number of Korean companies that have selected MontaVista Linux", commented Tom Kelly, president and CEO of MontaVista Software. Moreover, "We expect to sign more than 50 agreements with 30 different Korean companies this year alone. We are making this investment to build closer relationships with our Korean customers, and with the markets they help drive", he further added.

MontaVista Software is the leading provider of Linux for intelligent devices and telecom hardware. The company now works with more than 400 partners, while thousands of companies use MontaVista embedded Linux on their devices. This solution adds functionality, increases reliability and reduces costs for the handset developer.
