Capcom has announced that it plans to release Monster Hunter Tri on the North American and European markets in early 2010, as the game had a spectacular debut in Japan, with more than 1 million units shipped in the first day on sale.

Monster Hunter Tri is the third iteration in the series created for home gaming consoles, specifically the Nintendo Wii, and boasts a variety of improvements.

The videogame now has fully simulated underwater and desert environments and the graphical quality has been increased to make it the best looking experience of Monster Hunter yet. The developers at Capcom have introduced 18 new monsters in the game and the Artificial Intelligence of all the enemies has been rebuilt from the ground up.

The Wi Fi Connection allows as many as four players to join up and tackle the various beasts and those who go at it alone will be helped by Cha Cha, a hunting partner controlled by the computer. The game also includes fresh armor sets, a new weapon system and more items.

Laurent Fischer, the managing director for Marketing & PR at Nintendo of Europe, stated that “The popularity of the Monster Hunter franchise in Japan is undeniable and the Day 1 shipment number indicates that the release of Monster Hunter Tri on Wii will be another major hit for the series. We are therefore really excited that Capcom is bringing this title to Europe so the Wii audience here can also experience the thrill of the hunt.”

Players in the West who are eager to take an early look at the title can go to GamesCom in Cologne between August 19 and 23 in order to see the localized version of the game in action. The Monster Hunter franchise has sold more than 10 million units until now, with Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G alone moving 3.5 million units.
