Capcom has announced several new monster types coming to Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate this year, bearing some resounding names and looking extremely spooky, to say the least.

The announcement was made on the Capcom Unity blog, showing off the four new monsters, the Berserk Tetsucabra, Ash Kecha Wacha, Tigerstripe Zamtrios, and Ruby Basarios.

The new variations introduce slight twists to already existing monsters, such as the ability to bite into explosive rocks for the Tetsucabra, the ability to spit fire for the Kecha Wacha, the ability to go between forms and to engage in a paralyzing attack for the Zamtrios, and the breakable ruby crystals of the Basarios.

The game features around 100 different monsters so far, most of which are returning from previous entries in the series. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has a strong focus on three-dimensional movement, making taking down lumbering beasts more fun than ever.

The blog entry shows the beasts and the armor you can craft after successfully dealing with them, which you can see in the gallery below.

A great success for the 3DS

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is coming to North America and Europe sometime in early 2015. The game is already out on the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming device in Japan, dubbed Monster Hunter 4G.

The game was received amazingly well in Japan in 2013, and its enhanced edition managed to raise the bar even further. Monster Hunter 4G sold close to 1.5 million copies in its launch week alone, making it another big hit for the 3DS, the dominant console on the Japanese market.

The game also has a slew of downloadable content to enjoy, introducing new storylines to explore and new beasts to hunt, the latest of which challenges you to take on an Elder Dragon.
