All virtual hunters are advised to get their crafting tools ready, because Capcom has a contest in store for them, challenging the community to design a deadly weapon for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

On the Capcom Unity blog, the company notes that it's been 5 years since the last similar contest, and that the results were so enjoyable that it's high time they got another such competition going.

As such, Capcom is asking players to design and name a weapon that could be featured in their Nintendo 3DS exclusive action role-playing game, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

All eligible entries must be based on one of the 14 already existing weapons classes in the game, Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Great Sword, Long Sword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Gunlance, Switch Axe, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun, Bow, Insect Glaive and Charge Blade, and have to be labeled accordingly.

There will be two winners to the competition, one from the Americas, both North and South, and one from Europe and PAL territories, so remember to also include your country of origin when sending your design.

The company is only accepting one weapon design for person, so think carefully about your choice before submitting. Entries will have to be sent by email to contest(at)capcom.com, with the message subject MH4U WEAPON DESIGN, consisting of a weapon name and illustration, and an optional description to help contextualize the design.

The contest is introduced in a short video by none other than Ryozo Tsujimoto, Monster Hunter series producer at Capcom, and has captions available in French, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese, pointing out that they don't want to leave out western fans of Monster Hunter, and aim to give them something to do and be excited about while they wait for the enhanced edition of the game, introducing multiplayer, to come to their 3DSes.

Entries can be sent to Capcom until 9:00 AM / 16:00 GMT , May 5, and due to the large scope of the contest, players are advised to read the strict terms and conditions, as well as the official rules, in order to make sure they don't risk being disqualified.

Monster Hunter 4 is currently only available in Japan and Korea, with an update set to release in Japan this fall, which will also come to both North America and Europe under the name Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, scheduled for launch in early 2015.
