How to top what's already the best?

Gaining popularity and fans and jumping 100 or 1000 places in a world hierarchy is a fairly easy thing to do... the really hard stuff only begins when you're already at the top and have to battle with the best in the field or worse, your own previous monumental-success creations. It is more than obvious that quite few manufacturers can gather so many resources of creativity and excellence such as to be able to top the already top-shelf gear they've produced lately. I mean, where does this end?

Monitor Audio is a UK-based producer who has been centered on hi-def, hi-re tech and hi-class gear ever since the first unit saw the daylight. Now it's time to make the previous releases, the Bronze and Platinum editions step away as the latest, Gold Edition "enters the arena".

The Gold Signature series is the flagship of this small company and it will also make other products look like toys, both in what looks and performance are concerned. With prices between $999 and $3,999 per piece, the six "boxes" in the Gold Signature series simply address not only the most discerning of the audiophiles but also the audiophiles capable and willing to spend really big bucks on their gear.

The GS10 is a stand-mounted speaker that will redefine the way you perceive the 3D-ing of sound. Its 6.5" RST (Rigid Surface Technology) mid-bass driver combines excellently with the patented C-CAM gold tweeter. The sensitivity has a rather small value of only 88dB, and a pair of GS10 will blast as much as 108 dBSPL, while each monitor will run at 100W max. Price: $1,499 a pair.

The GS20 is a marvelous piece of 2-and-a-half way engineering running on 2 bass/bass-mid RST drivers mounted separately in different enclosures and as well, separately-tuned and set up. The GS20 sports the dedicated C-CAM gold tweeter which delivers up to 43kHz HF for complying with the latest wide bandwidths audio formats. Up to 150W power and 111dB SPL per pair, with dual bass reflex differential chambers, for $2,999 a pair.

The GS60 is a three-way version of the GS20 with the same two 6.5" RST driver-array and 1" gold tweeter, blasting a max of 200W from its 90 dB-sensitive cones and providing up to 112.5 dB of SPL. Want them? $3,999 and they're yours (pair, also).

GSLCR is (as name tells) a LCR monitor sold for (only) $999 equipped with the already classic 2 x 6.5" RST driver-format and the 1"-gold C-CAM tweeter, all designed to provide you with the smooth response for the center channel of your fav movies.

The GSFX unit is the sound FX-source, as I guess you have already guessed. It not only sports the traditional 6.5" woofer and gold C-CAM tweeter on the front side but also side pairs of 4-inch C-CAM drivers for bass and mid frequencies, all diffuse (to complement the GS front channel unit) yet precise and definite to make sure your ears will be able to catch any subtlety of a soundtrack. The GSFX blasts 100W at 109dB max, sold for $1,499 a pair.

Finally, the GSW-12 is the subwoofer driver (yet it's whole details are yet to be announced); a 12" long-throw woofer based on the same C-CAM technology and with multiple configurable inputs. I have reserved the end for the stands for the GS10 and GSLCR: diecast alloy with cable management, all for the staggering price of $499!

The Monitor Audio Gold Signature comes in Santos rosewood, walnut, cherry and natural oak, and piano black and piano silver gloss. Choose any of them, if you can afford.
