Firaxis, as the developers, and 2K Games, as the publisher, have announced that they are preparing to launch two downloadable content packs for their turn based strategy title Civilization V, set to be released on the same October 25 date.

The most interesting one of them will be the “Mongols Civilization and Scenario Pack”, which allows the players to lead the horde as Ghengis Khan in a quest to rule as much as possible of the known world.

The good news is that the package will not cost those who have bought Civilization V, regardless of version, anything, with the developers saying that the free package is seen as a gift to those who have long supported the franchise, the “fanatics” of the turn based strategy phenomenon.

The two companies are also saying that they will release as DLC the “Babylonian Civilization Pack”, which introduces the civilization, with its unique Bowmen, its leader King Nebuchadnezzar II and their technological advantages.

The civilization was initially only available to those who bought the Collector's Edition of Civilization V and will now cost 4.99 dollars.

It seems that Firaxis and 2K Games will be working on more civilizations as DLC for the future.

At the same time the developers are working on a substantial patch for Civilization V, fixing the biggest issues that the game has at the moment.

Details offered on the official forums mention that the Artificial Intelligence will be tweaked to better deal with the new rules governing warfare and will be better able to develop in order to adapt to the strategy of the human player.

There are also changes coming to how Workers perform and improvements to the overall performance level.

Civilization V is quite a revolution for the series, with its emphasis on happiness, its introduction of hexes and the new one military unit per tile rule.
