A recent market research reveals that most of the kids are tending to become tech-addicted because their lives are based only on new generation devices. According to The NPD Group, as children use electronic devices at approximately 7 years, the televisions and the PCs are tried since the early age of 4 while the digital media players and the satellite radios are used by 9 year-old kids. It seems like the non-portable televisions are used in 5.8 days, the cell phones for about 4.3 days while the digital video recorders for only 4.1 days.

"Kids are drawn to the latest and greatest digital devices just as their parents are. They appear to have no fear of technology and adopt it easily and without fanfare, making these devices a part of their everyday lives," said Anita Frazier, industry analyst, The NPD Group.

As expected, the majority of parents want to buy kids' versions of tech-devices for their children but, the percentage was reduced from 83 percent in 2006 to 74 percent in 2007.

"Since the 2005 survey, by and large, virtually all of the various electronic devices register a decline in average age that the initial use occurs. Most notably, earlier product use is seen for DVD players and cell phones. Interestingly, the average number of CE devices both owned and used by kids is down slightly compared to last year and in 2005, as are the number of households that own these devices. Moreover, close to 25 percent of households surveyed claimed to have made no electronics purchases during the past 12 months," it is mentioned in a press release published today.

The study was made on a representative sample of US residents with ages from 25 and older, with 4 to 14 year-old children.
