You'll get to “See the Future”

Peter Molyneux is one of the most flamboyant game designers currently working in the industry. While he didn't really break the mold with his games, he did become famous for his uncanny ability to hype them up and make them sound like the best titles ever.

The latest game from his studio, Lionhead, was Fable II, which introduced some very interesting concepts to RPGs and sold very well. It already received the first expansion, entitled Knothole Island, which added a brand new land for players to explore and fulfill quests there.

But recently there have been some pretty serious talks about the next expansion to the game and, thanks to BBC presenter Jonathan Ross, the next game in the series has been all but confirmed. Now, Molyneux comes to talk with Kotaku and reveals some fresh details on the upcoming See the Future DLC add-on.

“The next DLC comes out in the spring,” he says. “We're in the spring now so don't think months, think more like weeks. It's called See the Future. The first (DLC) was done very close to Fable II and the team was tired and we sort of pushed ourselves to get something out early for the fans. This time we've taken a little bit more time on it, it's a little bit more story driven. It answers some of the questions, if you're a real fan of Fable, it answers some of those questions. It's going to test you a little bit emotionally as well. But I think the real unique thing here is it starts to tease and hint at what it [is] starting to happen in the world of Albion and what is happening in the future.”

He further talks about the future game, although he emphasizes the fact that nothing is concrete at the moment and the announcement is still far from here. “If we were to take the franchise even further, going on from Fable II, I'm not announcing anything, but if you play See the Future you're going to be getting a flavor at what's going to be happening,” he says. “My ideal is what I would want to happen is something big.”

There you have it, classic Molyneux style, while nothing is certain, it will be something big. Hopefully we will see a concrete release date for See the Future and after that some more details on the next title.
