In the United Kingdom

Modern Warfare 2, the first person shooter developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, has managed to top the videogame chart in the United Kingdom for a fourth week in a row, establishing a pretty serious claim to being the biggest videogaming release of 2009 and it will probably continue to dominate the top all through December as it begins to get Game of the Year awards and as more gamers rush into stores to pick it up.

Meanwhile, FIFA 10 from EA Sports has bounced back up to second spot in the top ten, probably because of the popularity of the Champions League, which is wrapping up its group phase, and because of the spectacular matches taking place in the Premier League.

The prominent position seems more unassailable if one takes a look at its main rivals, which were recently released. Assassin's Creed 2 from Ubisoft has slid one place from second to third, while New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii from Nintendo has also gone down one position to reach fourth spot.

The Japanese console manufacturer and videogame developer can comfort itself with the fact that the new Mario title is followed by Wii Sport Resort and by Wii Fit Plus, which show signs of having the same longevity as the previous Mario Kart Wii and the original Wii Fit. Seventh place in the chart belongs to Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games from SEGA.

LEGO Indiana Jones 2: Adventure Continues from LucasArts has managed to climb into the eighth position from twelfth place, while Forza Motorsport 3 from Microsoft is hanging on to number nine. Mario Kart Wii is bringing up the rear of the top ten. The biggest falls of the week were registered by Left 4 Dead 2 from Valve and F1 2009 from Codemasters, which have each fallen six places.
