In the United Kingdom

With the biggest releases of this videogaming year all out, it's time to look at the various charts that come out and try to estimate which game will be the biggest seller of 2009. The biggest hint will arrive when the NPD Group numbers for November come out towards the middle of the month but until then, a sneak peek can be seen by taking a look at the weekly United Kingdom videogame chart.

For the third week in a row, the number one selling title is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision.

It just might be that the first person shooter will keep its number one place until the end of the year as neither Assassin's Creed 2 from Ubisoft, which again occupies second spot, nor New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii, which again sits at number three, appear capable of taking down the blockbuster. It's also very possible to see the top three not moving till 2010 comes around.

FIFA 10 from EA Sports has jumped up two places to go just outside the top three, showing that football is still very popular in the United Kingdom, while Wii Fit Plus from Nintendo is continuing to hold on to number five, with Wii Sports Resort coming up right behind it.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games from SEGA is at number seven, while Left 4 Dead 2 from Valve and Electronic Arts has slipped down one position to come in eighth. Forza Motorsport 3 from Microsoft is at number 9, while F1 2009 is bringing up the rear of the top ten.

LEGO Batman: The Videogame from Warner Bros. has exited the top ten just as Dragon Age: Origins from BioWare is getting ready to also exit the top twenty in the United Kingdom.
