Obsessions can lead to many things, including cosmetic surgeries in order to modify a person's look to resemble the subject of one's craze and passion. When mystical creatures with pointy ears are the core of a 23-year-old's infatuation, elf-like transformation surgery is just one normal step towards a unique look.

Melynda Moon, passionate fan of the famous trilogy “Lord of the Rings,” developed a deep admiration towards the elves’ sophisticated look, and in order to resemble her favorite creatures, she decided to have her ears altered, looking like Santa's helpers.

The elf-lookalike is proud to differentiate herself from usual human through her unique-shaped hearing organs.

Ms. Moon not only admires the creatures, but she believes she also comes from a different place, a mystical realm where she used to be a fairy, or something similar. “I have always been very close to nature. Pointed ears are the most adorable thing, and I find the ‘elven’ attire is so elegant,” the 23-year-old says, according to International Business Times.

In order to fulfill her wish, Melynda underwent a two-hour surgery that transformed the tip of her ears, and endured weeks of uncomfortable pain while her skin was healing. The pain and discomfort didn't discourage her, as she admits her pointy ears were worth it.

“I have always had fantasies about what it would be like to be something other than human, so I decided to change my appearance to look supernatural,” Ms. Moon says, notes IBT. In addition to her special elf-like features, the woman also enjoys dressing up and wearing make-up that makes her look less human and more mystical.

Most people believe her special ears are fake and are quite torn when the young elf-lookalike reveals the fact that they are actually real. The $408 (€296) surgery consisted of skinning the top of the hearing organ cartilage, cutting pieces from her ear and stitching them together in a pointy shape.
