ModNation Racers publisher and developer, Sony and its San Diego studio, have confirmed that a subtitle has been chosen for the PlayStation Vita version of the game, which is now called ModNation Racers: Road Trip.

The first ModNation Racers title impressed quite a lot of PlayStation 3 owners by adapting the 'Play, Create, Share' mantra of LittleBigPlanet to racing games, allowing players to engage in fun-filled kart races, create and customize their own pilots, karts or tracks, and then share them with others online.

The experience was adapted to the PlayStation Portable shortly after that and is now heading to the PlayStation Vita.

The game was confirmed for the new handheld console some time ago, but it has now received an official name, in the form of ModNation Racers: Road Trip, which was selected from a variety of suggestions made by the community.

"We are so very excited to introduce to you our official title ModNation Racers: Road Trip for the upcoming PlayStation Vita! In the upcoming months we will begin to roll out more details on where the future of ModNation is going to take us. We are thoroughly excited to have you join with us in this great time of the ModNation Racers franchise. Hang on people, the fun has just begun," said Mark Wilson, community specialist for the Sony San Diego studios.

The developer revealed that quite a few gamers will receive special goodies for their great suggestions, and even revealed some of the names that didn't make the cut, including 'Honey I Shrunk the ModNation Racers', 'ModNation Racers: Purple Monkey Dishwasher', or 'Steve'.

As of yet, however, a concrete release date for ModNation Racers: Road Trip for the Vita has yet to be revealed.

The handheld console is set to appear on December 17, in its native Japan, and in early 2012 in territories like North America or Europe.
