Earlier this year, there were various reports on some of the upcoming computer systems that would be powered by NVIDIA's Tegra System-on-Chip product. One of these machines was the Mobinnova 'elan', an ultraportable that falls in the new smartbook category of portable computer systems. Unfortunately, up to this moment, little has been made available on the availability and pricing of said model. However, that has changed, as the company has just announced that the system is scheduled to be announced, including pricing and availability, at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January 2010.

According to available details, the Mobinnova 'elan' smartbook has just been renamed 'beam', which is apparently the name of the device that will be officially announced at CES next year. The company said that it would reveal the pricing and availability of the system, as well as the carriers that would offer it, at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, in January.

From what has been made available so far, the Mobinnova Beam has been designed to feature an 8.9-inch display, pretty much the same size as some of the early netbooks that have surfaced on the crowded market. The system is powered by the aforementioned NVIDIA Tegra SoC and also boasts integrated WiFi and 3G connectivity, which should come in handy when trying to stay connected on this ultraportable device.

The Mobinnova Beam is said to measure 232 x 186 x 20.5 mm and weigh in at under 900 grams, which would make it an ideal choice for a portable computer system that can be carried around and enable users to remain connected. Designed to run on Microsoft's Windows CE operating system, the upcoming smartbook is said to provide customers with a battery life that should deliver up to 10 hours of HD video playback, according to available details.
