It has become common for carriers to get rid of old products to make room for new devices. Before reaching “end-of-life” status some of these devices are discounted to make them more attractive for customers.

This is the main reason why Mobilicity decided to drop Samsung Nexus S and Galaxy Mini prices. According to the folks over at MobileSyrup, the Nexus S will be available for only $299.99 (230 EUR), while the Galaxy Mini can be purchased for $129.99 (100 EUR) outright.

Mobilicity Nexus S was previously available for $349.99 (265 EUR), whereas the Galaxy Mini was priced at $169.99 (130 EUR) before the discount.

Although the Nexus S seems to be a rather old device and its hardware configuration is unattractive, this is one of the few smartphones released two year ago that is slated for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

Currently, Samsung Nexus S is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. The phone is aimed at Android developers, which is the main reason it’s been updated with the latest software available in the market.

The phone is equipped with a standard 1 GHz single-core Hummingbird processor, a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit, as well as a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash.

Samsung Nexus S sports a brilliant 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with support 480 x 800 pixels and oleophobic coating. The smartphone lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion, but it offers 16GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM.

Initially launched with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, Samsung Galaxy Mini received the Gingerbread update a while ago.

The Galaxy Mini is a budget-friendly smartphone, which is powered by a low-performance 600 MHz processor and packs 160MB onboard memory, 384MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).
