Wireless workers don't give a damn about security

InsightExpress did a research (in Stamford, Connecticut) to find out how employees that use wireless machines treat security. What has been found out is rather concerning. As I've read on eWeek, close to three quarters of mobile users admitted that they don't always know what threats they expose themselves to and what are the ways of combating them. Also, one quarter said that they hardly ever consider security measures, as they need to get their work done, instead of worrying too much about aspects regarding security. In my opinion, this is terribly wrong - what's the use of doing your work right, if a hacker gets into your system and destroys it completely?

Ignoring security measures means that the quality of your work will be based on your luck. So what are the chances you'll get infected? Huge! I think that mobile users should get some minimum IT training as well as a trip to "Internet Security Boot Camp". Security expert Craig Mathias stated for eWeek that business needs to take a sort of carrot and a stick approach to security and that it's all a matter of education.

Also, security will be better when it will be made easier. Some users don't have any operational defense system, because they don't even understand them, not to mention those that do don't know what to choose when being prompted. Threats of malware and spam are minimum on smart phones and PDAs at this moment, but they just might get bigger if their operating systems have boosted capabilities. Usually, more features means higher probability of having vulnerabilities.

Mobile users are somewhat safe for now, but hackers have never been wittier than they're nowadays, so you never know what they will come up with next.
