It seems that the very popular Mozilla Firefox browser is finally getting closer to the moment when we'll be able to see its face on our Windows Mobile devices too. The latest news on the Web points towards the fact that the development team is preparing to release the Mozilla Firefox Mobile, which is also known under the name of Fennec, in the following weeks.

A quick look on the Mozilla Wiki shows that the mobile browser is in the final stages of its development process. On the Windows Mobile section of the page the company says it is “targeting a Milestone release for the first week of February, targeting the HTC Touch Pro.”

Even if we won't see Fennec on every WinMo-powered mobile phone out on the market starting next month, this still comes as good news, especially for Firefox fans. From what we've heard, this version of the browser will after all be a Beta, although previous news pointed towards a much later release of the application, namely sometime around the end of February.

Fennec's test plan indeed shows that the Beta 1 release will come on February 27, but that would be “a Beta1 for Maemo.” The Windows Mobile section on the page clearly states what the company's plans are. Moreover, the fact that a device has already been chosen to test the application on is a clear indicator of the fact that it will come to users soon.

As many of you already know, Mozilla is working on having its browser launched on Maemo and Symbian devices as well. The company stated before that it planned to make a stand in the mobile market area, and that it had chosen to work on the development of its browser for devices that had the largest market share. Fennec has also been suggested to be heading towards MWC in Barcelona, next month.
