On 7th May, Kingston Technology, a world leader company in memory products, announced the release of MobileLite, a 9-in-1 USB card reader that will enable mobile consumers to handle different expansion memory card formats easier than ever when changing between digital cameras, mobile phones, PCs and other portable media devices. Additionally, three Secure Digital (SD) Flash memory card bundles come with this release: for now a 1GB standard SD card combo pack is ready and in the next few months a microSD and a 2GB SD bundle are planned to be released.

Wendy Lecot, Kingston's Flash marketing manager, declared: "There are so many Flash memory card formats currently used by different digital devices that the Kingston MobileLite will be a welcome tool that simplifies managing digital content between one's cell phone, digital camera, PC and MP3 player. With nine different card reading options, MobileLite makes moving and accessing music, video, image and data files between cards and devices quick and easy - via one convenient reader."

The "9-in-1" term reffers to the fact that MobileLite is compatible with nine different memory card formats, as follows: full-size Secure Digital, miniSD, microSD, RS-MMC, SDHC, MMCmobile, full-size MMC, MMCplus and MMCmicro. MobileLite has a two-year warranty and its price starts from $8.99. If you want to have SD cards too you'll have to pay more, of course, but keep in mind that they have lifetime warranty.

MobileLite weights only 0.046 lbs. (or 21 grams) and its dimentions are 3.04" x 1.16" x 0.60" / 77.3mm x 29.5mm x 15.3mm. Its speed ratings are 9MB/sec read and 4MB/sec write, while its operating temperature can go from 32 degrees to 140 degrees F (0 degrees to 60 degrees C). The storage temperature values range from -40 degrees to 185 degrees F (-40 degrees to 85 degrees C).

Windows Vista, Windows XP (SP1), Windows 2000 (SP3), Mac OS (10.x or above) and Linux (2.4 or above) - these are all compatible with MobileLite.
